I was born in Pennsylvania but moved around a lot growing up. My dad was employed by 3M, and we moved almost every two years, to various cities within Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Texas, New Jersey, and Ohio. The longest I ever lived anywhere was 4 ½ years and that was in Hutchinson, Minnesota. I loved living in Minnesota so after I graduated from high school in Cleveland, Ohio, I moved back to attend the University of Minnesota. A Gopher for life, I've stayed in Minnesota ever since!
I graduated from the U of M with a degree in Accounting and started my career with Deloitte Haskins + Sells in audit and tax. After several years in public accounting, I joined the parent company of Dain Rauscher Corporation as Director of Tax. I realized early on that the variety of both tax and financial accounting was a better fit for me, which led me to join Dataserv as Accounting Manager. In this capacity, I performed all the traditional accounting month-end duties, plus got involved in decision support. I still enjoyed the work four years later, but sought more balance between work and life; Certes was my first call and I began work as a contractor. After a few engagements, I transitioned to a permanent job at Best Buy, and became a Certes client. Coming full circle, I joined the Certes back office team as the Director of Client Services in March 2010 and love it!
